The event started at 8:00 am in the morning. ‘Active Kids – Active Bangladesh’ was the slogan of the event this year.
The Great Bangladesh Run is working as a pioneer running platform of the country to promote running across the country for building a healthy and active Bangladesh. They have organised runs in six districts, and gradually planning to organise running events in rest of the districts.

Moreover, they have also organised Annual Kids Run, Global Running Day, Diabetes Awareness Run and Suicide Awareness Run.

The race was for kids under 12 years of age. There were three categories in the race. Category A for 9-12 years, Category B for 5-8 years, and Category C for children who were less than 5 years old. Category A competed in a 2-kilometer race and Category B ran in a 1-kilometre race while participants of category C took part in 100-meter ‘Run Fun’.

A total of 150 participants took part in the Kids Run campaign. Among others, guardians of the participants and organisers were also present on that special day. All participants received special gifts from the organisers after the event.

Popular singer Samina Chowdhury distributed certificates and medals among the participants as the chief guest while Guinness Book of World Record Holder and 16 times Table Tennis Champion Zobera Rahman Linu was present as the special guest on the occasion.

Bashundhara Paper Mills Ltd Deputy Manager Karimul Arafat and Marketing Executive Murshedul Bari were present during the ‘Run Fun’ programme.
“We should take necessary steps from an early age so that our children will be interested in exercising regularly and take part in sports. Thus, they will stay away from drugs,” said Samina Chowdhury.

“Without sports, there is no other way to lead a healthy and normal life. I request the parents to take care of children from the early age,” Zobera Rahman Linu said at the event.

Bashundhara Paper Mills Ltd Deputy Manager Karimul Arafat said that they are happy to organise such programme successfully.

“There is no alternative of exercise and running to build a healthy and normal life,” he concluded.
